Our Ministry
Home In 1979 R.A. Dobson, Jr. founded Dobson Tape Ministry, with the goal of supplying audio tapes of the Bible and cassette players free of charge to nursing homes in North and South Carolina. After his death in 1981, Mr. Dobson's family has continued and expanded upon his dream, and we now furnish a wide array of Christian materials, entirely free of charge, to nursing homes and other facilities for the elderly in almost all of the fifty states, Canada, and Europe. The materials donated include: Audio and Video Bible tapes Christian music on tapes and CD Large print Bibles and devotional books This ministry to the elderly, their caregivers and their families, is now known as ElderSource. Over the years we have had many opportunities to support, help, collaborate and partner with other local, national, and international ministries and ministry initiatives. The founder's son, Robert A. Dobson, III (Bobby), assured leadership of the ministry upon his father's death in 1981, and in 1993 he retired from law practice to devote full time to ministry work. Although Dobson Ministries receives and accepts unsolicited gifts from time to time, we have no fund-raising program and our funding has been dependent almost exclusively upon the generosity of the Dobson family. In addition to our active ministry to the elderly, Mr. Dobson has established an endowment which regularly makes grants to a number of other ministries each year. Grants are awarded throughout the year, based upon written applications.
